Agent Licensing -
Our Perspective
(Pictured are Diana Petty, Tamara Aiken and Chrissie Boone)
There
seems to be a lot of confusion in the marketplace today over what the licensing
requirements are for a person to conduct the business of insurance. As a service
to those Phoenix Aviation customers that find this all a little bit confusing we
would like to offer this guide to help its customers.
We have used reasonable efforts to include accurate, reliable and up-to-date information,
but given the complexities of this subject matter we can make no warranties or representations
as to the accuracy, reliability, usefulness, timeliness and completeness of the
information provided herein.
Most of us have developed a website to make our presence known in the aviation insurance
community. And while that is a common sense approach to getting our name out there
- with the advent of this new medium comes a host of new considerations.
Your website can be read in every state of the union - yes that's right all 50.
You knew that - but with that broad dissemination of your company's image have you
considered you may also be soliciting business in all 50 states?
The National Association of
Insurance Commissioners has published the "Producer
Licensing Model Act" which has been adapted for use in almost all the states.
This act defines solicit as "attempting to sell insurance or asking or urging a
person to apply for a particular kind of insurance ...." More

Mexico Warning!
The
situation in Mexico is becoming more dangerous every day. ACPI has 5 aircraft theft
reports in 2008, 3 occurred in Mexico, and one in the Bahamas.
The
drug cartels are becoming bolder and taking on not only the Mexican police but their
military too. US interests in Mexico are targets also. See this report from the
ASI Group, a MEDEX Global Group Company Daily Report ...Mexico: Gunfire was reported
near the U.S. Consulate on Avenida Constitución in Monterrey on 13 November 2008.
At least one bullet hit a nearby cart belonging to a fruit vendor. Mexican police
officers immediately surrounded the facility. The consulate has suspended operations.
The incident followed two similar attacks in October 2008 in which unknown assailants
fired gunshots and threw a grenade in the vicinity of the consulate.

(Atlanta), Frank Lambert (Inspection Services) and Thomas Hollinger (Atlanta).
As an active member and supporter of the aviation community, we not only participated
in the exhibit area, but were able to meet many of our insureds and look at the latest aircraft and technology.
